Applying Feng Shui to Your Home and Patio
Tuesday, July 6th, 2010
Applying feng shui to your home does not mean you have to hire an interior designer or expert of feng shui. Instead, there are some simple ways you can increase the feng shui of your home. For those that are beginners in regards to feng shui, this article will offer a few basic tips you can make your home a beautiful place to dwell within.
The first key to making your home a place you wish to live in, is to identify the problem areas of your home. Maybe there is a bathroom or bedroom you simply never enter, because you do not like being in those rooms. Maybe you love your kitchen, but the den is a disaster. Other areas that people frequently forget about are the garage and a backdoor patio or deck. It is crucial that you place these rooms on a list of rooms that need better feng shui.
After you have identified the rooms that need more attention, you can proceed with actually implementing some feng shui tips. When starting out, it is best to keep a relaxed approach. Instead of feeling the need to make your home perfect in one day, try to pick a room to work on throughout the week.
One feng shui tip that is easy to implement for beginners is checking the flow of chi in your home. This involves a simple visualization technique, that can be helpful in determining which areas to work on in your home. Visualize water flowing throughout your home. If there is a place it stops due to bad energy, then work on this area. For example, many people have a patio that the "water" does not even touch, because it is empty or too cluttered. If your patio is still sparse, then create good energy in the area by placing a set of chairs and table in the area. Also, you may want to place a fire pit in the area, to make it a place that is more readily enjoyed by you, your family, and your guests.
You can also apply feng shui to your patio by considering if it is a place for social gatherings or a place for personal refuge. This will help you better decide how to design your patio. For example, you may want to place a larger table and chair set on the patio if it is for social gatherings. Or, you may want to place more bushes and trees in the area if it is for a personal refuge.
However you decide to design your patio and home is up to you. However, improving the feng shui of its design can lead you to a happier life spent in the home you have worked so hard to earn!
