Feng Shui Theories

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

Feng shui theories today mainly work with the goal to arrange the environment made by humans in certain spots known to have good Qi. In order to find this spot, it should be the right location and an axis in time based on the accepted theories. In order to understand it better, here are some of the theories that feng shui has been known to uphold in its practice.

Qi

The Qi, pronounce as "chi", is a difficult word to understand and is usually left as it is, without translation. In the most literal sense, the word means "air". In today's feng shui, Qi is similar to the word "energy". A more traditional explanation of Qi as it relates to understanding of local environments, the orientation of buildings, and the interaction between the land to the vegetation and the soil quality. An instrument that is used to determine the flow of Qi is the luopan.

The theory of Qi stems from the different beliefs from the Axial Age. One such belief holds that the heavens influence life on Earth. This may seem outrageous to some people, but scientists today now know that space weather exists and can affect some technology such as GPS, power grids, communication and navigation systems, etc. and the internal orienting faculties of even birds and other creatures. Storage and Organization Products that Will not Break the Bank | boxes

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

We've all set a New Year's resolution to be better organized. On second glance though, it can be a daunting task when you try to factor in all the necessary tools you'll need to purchase in order to gain control over the clutter in your home. However, you don't have to break the bank in order to organize your life and tame the clutter beast. If you look around your house, you may even find some ingenious storage and organization tools right under your nose.

You need to assess your organizational needs before you go shopping. If your office area is creating chaos in your life, consider investing in a filing cabinet or portable file boxes and a box of hanging file folders and develop a workable filing system for yourself. You can probably even find unused coffee cups for pen and pencil storage, and small baskets or boxes that would neatly tuck inside a desk drawer and hold paperclips, pushpins or rubber bands in your home. If your closet is giving you fits, a second closet rod or shoe or sweater organizer can easily be added to consolidate clothing items and put them within easy reach. Your favorite discount or home store has a large selection of storage bins, drawers, baskets, boxes, and bags available at affordable prices. And though they aren't necessary when you begin your organization product, having durable products that are up to the task of being sorted through, moved and repurposed are smart investments.

But probably the best organizational tool you can invest in is a calendar. It can be in planner form, or a desk or wall calendar, as long as it's easily accessible and has plenty of room for you to schedule your organizational projects and household tasks. Make a commitment to maintaining your organized areas on a regular basis, and you'll probably free up time to tackle others around your house or office.

How To Bring Balance and Positive Chi Into Your Home with Feng Shui

It is taking the world by storm. That's right, more and more people are joining the new age revolution and seeking out the help of Feng Shui to change their lives and bring balance into their world.

Meaning literally wind and water, Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of placement based upon a philosophy of the movement of chi or natural energy through our environments. While much of the art was recorded by Choo-he of the Song dynasty, it is thought that Feng Shui has much deeper roots. By following the patterns of nature, a Feng Shui practitioner will advise on the placement of everything from an individual object in the home or workplace to the positioning of a building upon property. Feng Shui shows us how to support the flow of energy in our lives to improve one's health, financial situation and love life. (more…)

Feng Shui Practice

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

This article which you are about to read has been written because of a growing interest in this subject all around the world, and I hope that by reading this you will have a few of your questions answered.

A belief, a system or a dogma that has existed, survived and is still in popular use today is worth taking a second look at. To dismiss them would simply be idiotic as many already have, and have proven nothing aside from making it known that they do not cotton onto the obvious.

There will always be the skeptics and believe me, they have had their share of helping issues to be advertised freely and more forcefully since once they have committed their emotions into fighting against something it happens that they become even more vocal than the adherents. It is true with religions, ideologies, new inventions and discoveries and yes, even Feng shui.

And so again, what is Feng shui and for centuries now, why has it survived?

In a nutshell, it is the result of the persistence of man in trying to live with his environment through harmonizing with it so that he gathers the positive forces and influences of nature to improve his wellness. Not a bad idea at all. In fact it almost sounds like most of the precepts in all the major religions except that it is not a religion. It is a practice. A belief system developed since the ancient times in China. Feng shui has persisted and spread, to almost all the known parts of the world. Unbeknown to many cultures, many Feng shui principles are already being practiced by them although with different connotations and justifications.

The practice of Feng shui has taken a prominent consideration in building designs, selecting sites, locations, decorations, business, personal practices, interrelationships, houses, rooms, pathways, medicine, you name it. It could be applied to almost everything and yes even the contour of a face and the force of character and vision in a person is said to be contributors to gaining good qi (pronounced as chi, a kind of energy from which life emanates) or not. Almost everything could be drawn to gain good Feng shui or bad Feng shui. It could have thousands of applications, from womb to tomb. (more…)

Feng Shui Solutions For Your Condo's Kitchen And Office

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Feng Shui is the 6,000-year-old Asian practice that blends science, art, and spirituality in choosing the proper placement of buildings, furniture, entrances and exits, as well as in using colors, plants, and water in the home, condo or workplace.

Feng Shui is based on complex scientific calculations, not inspiration or intuition. Our planet is filled with different energies. It rotates on its axis creating cycles of day and night, while simultaneously revolving around the Sun in yearly cycles, and is constantly subjected to a wide array of other forces in the Universe. These physical forces and many different time cycles affect us profoundly. The Chinese have spent centuries observing the effects of these forces and learning how to help humanity live in harmony with its environment. This is the science of Feng Shui.

Using the five traditional Chinese elements (fire, water, earth, wood and metal) to balance the flow of "chi" (life energy) in your environment, Feng Shui can improve your health and clear barriers keeping you from financial success.

The following are specific pieces of advice from Feng Shui experts on using this discipline to make your condo a happier and more productive place. (more…)

Feng Shui in the Garden

Feng Shui
by Bahi P

"The Ancient Art of Placement" called Feng Shui (pronounced phung schway) literally means 'wind' and 'water.' The Chinese believe this cosmic energy, called Chi or 'the green dragon's cosmic breath,' is the life force energy that pervades human existence. The basic tenet of Feng Shui is to capture this vital energy creating balance and harmony in our environments. Feng Shui is predicated on the core belief that we, the earth, and every living thing on it are interconnected.

Feng Shui is the oldest form of gardening dating back several millennia to China. It is based on the philosophy that man and nature must live in harmony with one another and that all life is infused with the invisible energy called Chi. This force circulates throughout our environment and is essential to our well-being, health, and happiness. The Chinese sages believed that any man-made feature could affect the flow of Chi so established the rules of placement that are central to this philosophy.

In the Feng Shui garden, balance and harmony are the key factors. Balance and harmony are achieved by careful attention to detail and the balance of Yin and Yang energy. Yin energy includes the earth, rocks, ponds, plants, flowers, and trees. Yang energy includes the home, brick, wood, nails, and other solid construction. The fundamental characteristics of Feng Shui gardening are: (more…)

Feng Shui for Moving into a New Home or Place

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Moving into a new place and wanting to make sure you that it has good Feng Shui? Wanting to clear the space and the possibly negative chi of the previous owner? Even if the home is brand new, there is still a need to use Feng Shui to ensure that your stay is a harmonious and auspicious tenure. Just as the start of a new venture or beginning is important, an auspicious start when moving is of no exception. I've received numerous inquiries from friends and customers, worried about how there can be bad energy from the previous owners and that it can still linger on. This concern is justified. Whenever someone stays at a certain place for a considerable amount of time, the chi and feelings of the area will adopt the personality of the tenant. There is a fair amount of us who may not always know the full story of the place or land itself; some agents may not find it necessary to tell you the full story of its past, especially if it is not favorable. Do we even want to know what has happened at times? (more…)

Feng Shui Tips for Creating Harmony in Your Home

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

Feng Shui is the ancient art of placement. Physical belongings, such as furniture, candles, photographs, are arranged in specific ways so as to increase your home's harmony thereby enhancing your life.

According to ancient Chinese beliefs correct Feng Shui arrangements channel the Chi energy which creates a positive environment that can bring good fortune, health and happiness into your life. Even the colors, patterns and textures you have in your home affect your home's energy and ultimately your own well-being.

Here are some easy tips for beginners:

Understand that Chi energy needs to flow freely throughout your home. It needs to enter with ease through the front door and travel freely throughout your home before it exits out the back door. That means that clutter of any sort can block the energy flow. Sharp angular furniture and untidy bookshelves, for example, will cause the energy to slow down. So keep your home free of clutter.

Use plants to soften hard angles in your home. Keep all plants looking green and healthy. If your plants wither and die then something's wrong. What is bad for your plants is bad for you. Flowering plants are extra good luck.

Round dining room tables are better than square or rectangular ones. You should have an even number of dining room chairs. The décor should not detract from the food. Keep things simple, but comfortable.
